Free Diagnostic Mock Tests for the SAT & ACT

– Available Both In-Person and Virtually! –

Edison Prep uses full-length, real exams. Always.

No fake tests or inaccurate  “Combo/Comparison Mini Tests” that are regrettably common in metro Atlanta from the big-box tutoring agencies.

All group classes have a mock test built-in. We have free diagnostic mock SAT and ACT exams 48+ weekends a year for students doing tutoring and/or prospective students deciding which test to pursue: the SAT or the ACT.

How can I schedule a mock SAT and/or ACT?

Reserving your seat is easy! Select your desired test from the selections below. You will be prompted to choose between in-person and virtual. Follow the prompts to enter your information. Most mock test dates end up having ample space. A few of the mocks in the peak period of July 1 – August 15 will fill up early!

How soon will I receive my test results?

Results will be emailed to the email address provided approximately 1-3 days after the mock test. You will receive a detailed score report as well as our recommendations on next steps.

Important Notes:

  • Note #1

If a student is in Algebra II as a sophomore, these diagnostic mocks are appropriate anytime second semester sophomore year or beyond. If a student is taking Algebra II as a junior, we recommend waiting until late fall of junior year to take a mock test when more Algebra II content has been covered!

  • Note #2

Rising juniors who are hoping to do test prep in summer or early fall are encouraged to take a mock test of each no later than July 15th of the summer before junior year, since SAT/ACT classes and the private tutoring calendar fill up on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Earlier mock tests (March-May of sophomore year) are better, since more popular timeslots fill first and many students have sports conflicts, summer camp, and other conflicts that accidentally delay the SAT vs. ACT decision.

Even if a student has conflicts with fall test dates (e.g. sports), finding out which test you’re stronger at early on lets you map out a wise winter or spring schedule!

  • Note #3

Students who have extended time accommodations or other accommodations should contact us to make arrangements!

  • Note #4

We are happy to look at data from real SATs, real PSATs, real ACTs, and full-length mock tests of those three tests conducted by other companies as long as they are real, retired exams!

  • Note #5

“My student wants to use pre-ACT/PSAT scores from 2 years ago” or “My student took a test that another company wrote.” Can we use those? Prior scores are great to have as data points, but a diagnostic test lets us see how your does on specific areas of content in each section, individual question types, reading material styles, and–most importantly–timing and stamina. That granular level of analysis lets us be more efficient in the tutoring process by identifying our biggest leverage points. Where are the areas of low-hanging fruit and/or areas where your student is naturally strong that we can max out? Mock tests help save students time and families money!

When should I take a mock test?

Taking a mock early on is wise, since most students study for 6-12 weeks for the tests and since group classes and the private tutoring calendar fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Our private tutoring calendar often fills 3-6+ weeks out, and usually, all but 3 or 4 of our group classes fill each year.

Mock Test Frequently Asked Questions

If a student has taken a full-length real mock ACT or SAT at school or with another tutoring company, we are happy to interpret those results. Real scores are always great as well!

Be aware: “Mini-ACT” and “SAT/ACT combo tests” are not the same as a real full-length mock test. They are typically an abbreviated marketing tool with fake questions that are very inaccurate and waste students’ time and may lead the student to choose the entirely wrong test!

The PSAT is the exact same length and number of questions as the real SAT and is an acceptable proxy for students who are deciding between SAT and ACT. About 70% of our students compare their most recent PSAT score to a full-length mock ACT to make the SAT vs. ACT decision.

One exception: If a student had a very high PSAT score, it’s likely advisable to take a mock SAT. If a student has a most recent PSAT of 1380+ and has the free time, it’s well worth taking a mock SAT as well as an additional data point since there can be more variability and volatility at the very top end with the reduced number of questions (90 on PSAT/SAT vs. 215 on ACT).

The best way to figure out which test is best for you is to do a diagnostic test for both tests (or compare a PSAT to a mock ACT) prior to significant study to see which test you are naturally better at. In our experience, about 10% of students perform approximately the same on the SAT and ACT, with about 45% performing meaningfully better on the SAT and 45% performing meaningfully better on the ACT. Do not rely on old rules of thumb from teachers or friends to decide which test to take; simply take a diagnostic on each and then focus on your naturally stronger test! The only tests that should be utilized when taking these diagnostics are actual SATs and ACTs.

Taking a mock early on is wise, since most students study for 6-12 weeks for the tests and since group classes and the private tutoring calendar fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Our private tutoring calendar often fills 3-5+ weeks out (especially weekends), and usually, all but 3 or 4 of our group classes fill each year.

All mock tests through July 2025 are available at this page (www.edisonprep.com/mocks/). If you have questions regarding alternate dates or extended time accommodations, please email admin@edisonprep.com or call/text 404-333-8573. You can also do a mock test flexibly anytime using our asynchronous mock SAT / ACT test page!
