About Our Founders | Philosophy and Promises

Tutoring Experience:
Brian and Silvia Eufinger, the co-founders of Edison Prep, have tutored over 18,500 students for a combined 65,000+ hours for the SAT, PSAT, ACT, GMAT, SSAT, and SAT Subject Tests. The average SAT/ACT tutor in metro Atlanta has tutored for fewer than 200 hours. Their small team of private tutors that they tutor alongside is also far above the average, with a collective 45,000+ hours of tutoring experience.

Brian and Silvia are frequently invited to speak about test prep, college admissions, and scholarships at PTSA meetings at Atlanta-area high schools as well as Edison Prep's free parent meetings. They have spoken at national education conferences and are sought-after guests on national podcasts on education and cutting the cost of college.

Personal Test Experience:
In High School: Top 1% scores on the PSAT, SAT, and ACT

Present-Day: We both still take the SAT and ACT multiple times each year to keep current, and score in the top 1% (usually top 0.3%) each time, a unique attribute among Atlanta tutors. The most recent scores include 361590, 1570, 1560 (new SAT), 2370, 2350 (old SAT), five perfect composite scores, and the only back-to-back-to-back perfect 36's on the ACT in history. Many tutoring companies simply require tutors to have top 9-18% scores or administer their own inauthentic certification exams (or have no requirement at all). We highly encourage all parents to ask for proof of recent, official high scores from any tutor they are considering (not scores from the Reagan Administration), especially given that over 98% of tutors out there have never taken the New SAT that debuted in March 2016. In 10+ years, we've never actually encountered a single other tutor when we've been taking the real test...ever. Accountants and other professionals keep current with continuing education each year; tutors who are professionals should be no different!

We are proud to be the only company in Atlanta that revises its SAT and ACT books each year with new content reflecting ongoing shifts in the tests. We obsessively refine the content, the supporting materials—even the jokes and ad-hoc illustrative stories—with one goal in mind: have the biggest impact possible on the most number of students!

Student Success (Results):
Since Edison Prep's inception, our individual and group students have had an overall average SAT increase of over 280 points (Old SAT), over 135 points (New SAT), and an overall ACT increase average of over 4.5 points. Over 1,500 students have increased over 400 SAT points (Old SAT) or 200 points (New SAT) or 8+ ACT points.  From 2011-Spring 2014, over 40% of our Old SAT students finished with a 2000+, or a top 7% score, and approximately 55% of our 8,000+ ACT students since 2011 have ended with a 30+ (top 7% score). We're sought after by school districts throughout the southeast to conduct out-of-state ACT/SAT bootcamps, and approximately 20% of our Atlanta ACT Bootcamp students actually travel from 2+ hours away to attend!

We have tutored students all across Atlanta with starting scores in the 8th percentile or those starting in the top 1%, and everything in between. We are happy to take a top 1% student further into the top 1%; we also have experience with students who have learning disabilities, such as dyslexia and attention deficit disorder. Whether for admission purposes, scholarship purposes, or both, our students and their parents have found extreme value in SAT/ACT tutoring. Click here to see why.

Interesting Facts:
Edison Prep tutors approx. 1.6% of Georgia ACT testtakers, but we tutored almost half of the perfect 36's in the entire state of Georgia for the Sept. 2019 ACT (5 of the 12 -- see full details here). We have tutored at least fifteen of Georgia's perfect 36's for the last 12 years running, and over 10% of Georgia's 36's for the 2016-2021 school years.

Admissions Success:
Brian and Silvia applied to top tier schools and were admitted to many universities, some of which include: Stanford, Brown, Cornell, Emory, Washington U. (St. Louis), Georgetown, Rice, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon, and Tulane.

They won over $1.2 million in merit scholarship money from the schools they applied to, as well as external awards such as the National Merit scholarship. Winning scholarship money to pay their way through school was vital, and their personal experience navigating the tough waters of admissions and scholarship applications has given them a solid foundation in college admissions advising.

Edison Prep’s Mantra:
Practice makes perfect. Your experience with concepts from practice tests will help you stay cool, calm and collected during the real thing. If you hit a bad patch of questions, don't stress and just re-focus. Remember: students who miss over a dozen questions can still score in the top 2%.
